California's AB506, child protection legislation, was updated in 2022.

California’s AB 506, governing churches, ministries and the children they serve, was updated in 2022. What does that mean to you?

In this webinar, attorney and MinistrySafe founder Gregory Love will explain recent changes to AB 506 and clarify what the original law still requires.

In 2021, the California State Legislature passed AB 506, impacting organizations that serve children and youth – including churches, nonprofits and ministries. The law requires background checks – including fingerprinting and running those prints against California's criminal database – for volunteers and employees. This type of criminal history check is commonly known in California as Live Scan. In addition, employees and volunteers must receive training that meets the state's standards for mandated abuse reporters. In 2022, the Legislature passed AB 2669, which made minor but important changes to the original law. Some of those updates were made in response to feedback from the public.

The law, and its updates, have resulted in a great deal of confusion on the part of churches, nonprofits and ministries. Join us to gain clarity and practical steps for your organization.
